Fibre Joint System
Z-TECH (India) is
committed to bring innovative products and technology, along with the
skill and experience of the parent organisation, Z-Tech Group of Canada,
to Indian constructions.
In this process, it is proud to introduce Fibre Joint,
a world class bridge expansion joint system for low to medium movement.
Belonging to the family of asphaltic plug joint, fibre Joint has the best
performance rating, next only to Strip-seal joints.
Along with the Z-Tech strip-seal and modular joints introduced
earlier, Z-Tech (India) has the state-of-the-art expansion joint systems,
for all movements and price ranges, and with guaranteed performance.
Asphaltic plug joint was first introduced in UK and Italy
during the late 1970s. It was developed when engineers were looking for
a better type of expansion joint to replace buried joints, which were
failing due to inelastic nature of surfacing over the joint.
The
solution was to replace a narrow band of road surfacing (wearing course)
at the joint with a matrix of specially formulated (rubberized or polymer
modified) bitumen binder and special aggregates. The inherently greater
elasticity of the binder provides a joint with improved fatigue behaviour
and greater flexibility to accommodate multidirectional movement.
The special aggregates (basalt or granite) provide the
strength to transfer wheel loads to the structure.
Due to its simplicity and superior performance, asphaltic
plug joints gained rapid popularity and soon replaced not only buried
joints, but also nosing joints (compression seals), which were popular
in late 60s and early 70s. With the advance research and development of
binders suitable for all climatic conditions, asphaltic plug joints are
now installed in the extreme cold climates of the north, as well as in
the hot tropical south.
FibreJoint binder is a thermoplastic material consisting
of a blend of polymer modified bitumen, mineral fillers and chemical additives.
It is imported from Zebraflex Limited, UK, a pioneer in formulations of
binders and is supported by their expertise in the field for more than
twenty years. The binder is selected depending largely upon climatic conditions.
In India, B82 Super Tropical Grade binder, a high performance formu-lation
for tropical climate, will be used. The binder has excellent resistance
to flow at elevated temperatures, and superior adhesion to asphaltic or
cement concrete faces of the joint. Z-Tech (India) will be pleased to
supply physical properties for the binder, suitable for a particular project.
The
aggregate used in Fibre Joint matrix is basalt or granite, which has excellent
resistance to crushing, impact, abrasion, polishing and flakness. The
size of aggregate varies from 6 to 20 mm (depending on the thickness of
FibreJoint), with the grading strictly controlled. The aggregate is washed
twice, dried and bagged.
FibreJoint performs by elastic and plastic deformation
of the binder matrix, through a combination of bridge deck movement and
traffic action. The thickness of FibreJoint extends to the full depth
of wearing course, which generally varies from 50 to 100 mm. The width
is selected depending upon the bridge deck movement, nature of traffic
and climatic conditions.
The advantages of Fibre Joint are: "being seamless" no
gap on bridge surface, aesthetically pleasing, offers maximum safety and
riding comfort, completely watertight, free of noise and vibration, allows
free movement, low initial cost, maintenance free, best solution for replacement
of failed joints, can be installed one lane at a time, and opened to traffic
in one hour.

Concrete Plants
Maxomix Concrete
Plants are compact, most versatile and efficient used for attaining correct
and homogenous design mix of large amount of high grade concrete, ‘Maxomix’
concrete plants are widely used for construction of canals, bridges, highways,
dams, multistoried and industrial buildings, factories and for ready mixed
concrete works. The concrete from plant is discharged into transit mixer,
concrete pump, dumper, crane bucket or belt conveyors.
Batching
star: Batching star consists of bulk heads as well as the heavy duty
supporting structure. It has four compartments with individual bulk heads
for storing 3 different aggregates and sand. Each bulk head is equipped
with pneumatically operated gate system from where bucket is charged with
aggregate and sand. In auto mode each gate is operated in selected sequence
one after another, for predetermined weight of aggregates and sand. The
next gate is not opened unless the previous gate is fully closed. This
ensures accurate weighment of individual aggregate/sand from respective
bulk head.
Aggregate weigher: The bucket rests on four loadcells
and these loadcells are of shear beam type. The strain gauges are sensing
the mechanical deflection of the loadcell due to charging of aggregate
into the bucket and is converted into mV and this signal is given to the
panel which displays weight of the aggregatge on the panel. The least
count is 1 Kg. and the accuracy of weighment is ± 2%.
Cement weigher:Cement weigher comprises of a suitable
weighing conical hopper which rests on 3 shear beam type loadcells and
here also the weight of cement is displayed on the panel. The hopper is
fitted with electrical vibrator and pneumatically operated butterfly valve
at the bottom for easy and quick discharge of the cement to the mixer.
One inlet for screw conveyor is provided at the top of the hopper. The
least count is 0.5 Kg. and the accuracy of weighment is ± 1%
Screw conveyor:A heavy duty cement screw conveyor
is fixed in inclined position to convey the cement from manual feeding
hopper to cement hopper. A suitable drive unit is also provided to drive
the screw. The screw conveyor body and the screw is manufactured from
heavy duty ‘c’ class pipe and flutes are fabricated from 5 mm plate. Running
clearances provided between body and flutes for smooth running.
Water weigher: It consists of conical hopper resting
on 3 points out of which one is a shear beam type loadcell and two are
dummy loadcells. The hopper has a gate with rubber gasket at the bottom
which is actuated by a pneumatic cylinder for opening and closing. Water
feeding is controlled by electromagnetic valve. The weight of water is
displayed on the panel. The least count is 0.5 Kg. and the accuracy of
weighment is ± 1%.
Mixer: It is stationery type single shaft, self
cleaning, compulsory mixer with dual zone counterflow mixing action. The
side walls, mixing spiral and shell are lined with replaceable higher
wear resistant Ni-hard tiles. The mixer is fitted exactly in front of
the plant from which homogenous mixed concrete easily poured in tansit
mixer or dumper through discharge hopper. This mixer has a pneumatically
operated gate at the bottom which is controlled by pneumatic valve.
Radial scrapper Radial scrapper helps pulling
aggregates and sand towards the gate of the build head. The reach of the
boom dragline bucket will be according to the capacity of batching plant.
The swivelling of the boom is done by a geared motor fitted in the cabin.
Double drum winch is fitted inside the cabin of the radial scrapper and
is driven by an electric motor. The control levers and pedals are within
the easy reach of the operator. The cabin is mounted on the top of bulk
head structure and the boom facing swiveling is done by Forward/Reverse
switch in front of the operator.
Electric control panel:Two separate control panels
are housed in control cabin from where the batching plant is operated.
One is a power panel in which all power contactors, relays, MCBs, main
switches, meters etc. are incorporated. Other is an electronic panel in
which separate batch controllers are fitted for aggregate, cement and
water on which separate settings are performed as well as it displays
the actual weights.
Salient features: Specially designed fabricated
sections used for sturdy construction, Easy to erect and dismantle due
to bolted type design, Sturdy (16 mm thk.) skip hoist track, Single shaft
compulsory mixer with two zone counterflow mixing system to achieve homogeneous
and speedy mix, Replaceable Ni-hard tiles in the mixer, Heavy duty radial
dragline scrapper with boom, Separate weighing system for cement, Completely
close conveying system for cement to ensure absolutely no wastage, Glass
cabin for inspection of all operations, Simple and economical foundation
and maximum weighing accuracy.
