- Ganesh Khadkatkar

The enormous speed of globalisation has changed the management pattern of every industry. The management base is now centred at very high norms of quality. The response of the customer to the products and services available make it easy for them to choose products and within their budgets. Exhibitions create such an atmosphere, a platform where, there is direct interaction with the suppliers and the manufacturers of Materials and Machinery.

Pune Construction Engineering Research Foundation realized the vast scope of exhibition fifteen years back. P.C.E.R.F, an organisation with vision and long professional foresight was established in 1983 with initiative of some prominent Civil Engineers, Architects, Educationalist and Authorities closely associated with Construction Industry in Pune. The objective of P.C.E.R.F. is to research technology development, education and transfer of information to construction industry.

The first Constro exhibition was organised at Pune Medical college Ground in 1985. This exhibition received an overwhelming response from manufacturers, endusers and even from a common man. There was a strong demand from all the people for Constro exhibitions in coming years.

Every Constro exhibition achieved new heights of innovative arrangements, popularity and utility. It includes Construction Machinery, Materials, Methods and Projects. Constro allows consumers, endusers, manufacturers and even exhibitors to have all type of information under one roof.

Customer can coordinate all requirements of his project in an efficient way when he visits the Constro.

The Constros are totally managed by P.C.E.R.F. members who are successful entrepreneurs. They are closely related with Construction Industry and know the aspiration of the industry well.

This support creates a broad platform for Constro and includes everything that is required for a successful exhibition.

Constro 2001, 8th in series promises to be a great event for exhibiting Construction Machinery, Materials, Methods and Projects from national as well as International manufacturers in the Construction Industry. Constro 2001 assures an unique opportunity to manufacturers and end-users to interact on a common platform. International Recognition

The Government at the Central as well as at the State level also has taken serious note of this transformation. The Constro 2001 aims to bring together on a common platform those with the concepts of modernisation to sell and those who require these concepts to build their strength in changing scenario of market potential. Inter Build Australia alongwith some exhibitors are participating in Constro 2001.

Some delegations from Australian construction industry are also planning to visit Constro 2001 and interact with construction industry people in India. P.C.E.R.F. aims to find out solutions for the subjects of concerned in the interest of society. Constro is an effective platform to bring together people and have brain-storming sessions to find out solutions for the problems. With this broad perspective, conferences are organized during Constro Exhibitions.

In Constro 2001, two such conferences are being arranged.

1. International Conference on Non-Conventional Energy Resources.
2. Round Table Conference on Educational Reforms in Civil Engineering in the context of globalistion.
Conventional Energy Resources are depleting and becoming costlier. On this backdrop, the use of Non-Conventional Energies is a must.

The conference aims to find out how these resources can be made popular so that a common man can use them regularly.

The Round Table Conference on educational reforms will bring together intellectuals and experts from educational as well as industrial fields. They will express their views, opinions about what should be taught to the Indian students to make them competent to face the global challenges of 21 st . Century.

Both these Conferences arranged during Constro 2001 are of the prime importance. The conclusions of these Conferences will definitely prove useful to the students and society and add value to the construction industry. With all these innovative specialties shaping up, Constro 2001 will set an example as to how successful exhibitions are organized.
