Cooling Tower Gearboxes
GREAVES B series right angle
gear drives in single/double reduction are intended to satisfy the characteristic
requirements and conditions encountered in cooling tower applications. These are designed
as direct replacements for the market equivalent models in terms of critical mounting
dimensions. The single and double reduction nominal ratio are also maintained exact within
+/- 2% of the parallel models which will eiminate the need for costly fan pitch
adjustments after replacement.
Salient features: * Spiral bevel
and helical gears are manufactured from high quality hardening alloy steel.
Bevels are generated in Klingelnberg cyclo-palloid system and finished
in matching sets, while helical gears are individually flank ground to
accuracy class 5 of BS:436. * The single-piece grey cast iron
case casting is of rigid construction with necessary reinforcements. Provided
with easily accessible service ports they are suitably designed on CAD
workstions to absorb the fan loads and to dampen noise and vibration.
The three point foundation facilitates in achieving alignment. * The ingress
of external contaminants particularly on fan end is arrested by employing
double seals with grease accumulation between them. In addition metallic
labyrinth seal on output extension takes care of the moist atmosphere
containing micro bubbles of water particles. * Lubrication of gears and
bearings is entirely self-contained by splash; oil slinger in the input
line generate positive throw which, in turn, ensures continuous circulation
of oil to top bearing guided through cast channels and bafles.
Technical specification: B-series cooling tower gearboxes are available
in six standard sizes covering a ratio of 2.71 - 9.83 (resulting fan rpm
153-554) in single stage and 6.47 - 14.84 (resulting fan rpm of 101-232)
in double stage version having service Kw rating between 15
to 186, which includes a service factor of minimum 2.0 as per AGMA &
CTI recommendation.
