KSB PUMPSWorld Product Series Pumps & ValvesKSB Pumps Ltd., incorporated in 1960, is the Indian subsidiary of Klein Schanzlin and Baker, Germany which was set up at Pimpri, Pune in Maharashtra. KSB Pumps is engaged in the manufacture of a wide range of pumps which find application in the oil and energy sector, chemical process and fertilizer industry as well as sewage pumps. Market Share: The company holds a 40 percent market share in boiler feed pumps. It holds a 25 percent market share in the domestic pumps market and 4 percent market share in the captive power plants (15-20 mw range).It is gearing itself to meet the growing demands of independent power producers (IPPs) by developing consolidated packages. MIL Controls: The companys foundries at Vambori were modernised with a view to deliver a variety of castings with international standard. The company acquired MIL controls in Kerala, a UB Group company in 1997 at a cost of Rs.12 crore. A new range of Ansi (American National Standard Institute) valves are being produced at Coimbatore in close operation with MIL controls. Energy Sector: The German Pump and valve manufacturer KSB Pump has significant investments lined up for the Indian nuclear power sector. It has an agreement with the Nuclear Power Corporation (NPC) for the manufacture of coolant pump for its 500 mw power station. World Product Series: The Indian company has been identified as a high priority company within the group. As a result, it now gets priority from the german parent, KSB AG, for any of its investment requirement, besides being at the core of the groups global manufacturing network policy and the competence centre for pumps used in the energy and petrochemical sectors. The company had recently launched its world product series comprising Multitec industrial pumps and Isoria 10 range of butterfly valves. Mr. Birnd Langebartels, managing director, KSB Pumps, did not rule out further acquisition as a route to growh in the country. The companys plants at Nashik, Chinchwad and Coimbatore are its competence centres which will develop engineering applications for the power, oil and petrochemical sectos globally, Mr. Langebartels had said. Exports: The company was in the process of launching a new product for the power generation industry. KSB had already received a high pressure high capacity multistage boiler feed pump from the parent company in Germany. The company is looking at exports as a major thrust area. It will now be the prime source of supply to the Asian and European markets for product designed by its parent. It will also feed the manufacturing plants of the parent. The move to integrate the local operations as part of the parents global manufacturing network is expected to see major exports from the Indian company, particularly of components and some new generation pumps. Exports which contribute 15 percent to KSB Pumps sales, at present are expected to double in the couple of years.KSBs multitech pumps plant at Pune will be the only source of the product in the entire Asia-Pacific region. The Coimbatore plant, which has been selected to manufacture the butterfly valves will feed the parents manufacturing plant in Europe.
