Kirloskar Copeland’s
winning range of compressors are manufactured at the company’s plants
at Karad and Atit, both located in the Satara district of Maharashtra.
Both units are equipped with the latest, sophisticated equipment for precision
machining of the components that go into hermetic compressors.. achieving
accuracies better than 0.0001 inches. All manufacturing activities are
performed as per international quality standard ISO 9001 (1994) certified
by BVQI and product engineering inputs for constant upgradation of designs
in terms of capacities, power consumption, sound levels etc.
Marketing network: KCL’s existing marketing network comprising 180 delaers, 23 company-owned outlets; and three authorised service centres. Another area it aimed to highlight was training at the dealership level. Every year it sends two batches of engineers to copland Corporation at Sydney, Ohio, US for training who undergo a 30-day training for a specific product. On returning they impart similar training to KLC engineers and conduct a series of workshops aimed at appliance makers, said Mr. Deepak Takkar, all-India Sales manager, Kirloskar Copeland, “ Every year we conduct over 40 workshops, with each workshop training between 30 to 100 mechanics".

KCL plans to sell two lakh units of commercial refrigerators, including 20,000 condensing units in 1999-200. In terms of contribution to KCL’s business, the segment ranks next to ACs, which accounts for over 65 percent of the turnover. The company sees its new offerings of condensing units for deep freezers to be of tremendous utility to small-scale appliance makers as well as large-scale ones like carrier, Amtrex, Voltas which use KCL compressors.
